electric vehicle
An electric vehicle (EV) is a type of automobile that is powered primarily or entirely by electricity, using one or more electric motors for propulsion. Unlike traditional vehicles that rely on internal combustion engines fueled by gasoline or diesel, electric vehicles operate using energy stored in rechargeable batteries. This energy powers the electric motor, which drives the wheels. Electric vehicles can be fully electric (battery electric vehicles, or BEVs), which rely solely on electric energy, or hybrid (hybrid electric vehicles, or HEVs), which combine an electric motor with a conventional engine. The growing popularity of electric vehicles is driven by their potential benefits, which include lower greenhouse gas emissions, reduced dependence on fossil fuels, and lower operational costs related to fuel and maintenance. Charging can be done at home or at various public charging stations, and advancements in battery technology continue to improve their range and efficiency.
